I think Shawn Johnson said it best when she mentioned how she gets nervous, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. It just meant that nerves proved that she cared (or anybody cares) about what they’re doing

Anything is possible in gymnastics. The best don’t always qualify and the underdog wins. Look at Afanaseva in 2011. Didn’t initially qualify, injury happened, she’s in and wins the whole thing.

This is very accurate. People like to say they think a gymnast was under/over-scored simply because they like/do not like that gymnast. If somebody can point out specific  execution or difficulty details in a routine to back up their opinion, then it’s legitimate.
